HERNANDO CHAPTER OF THE FLORIDA NATIVE PLANT SOCIETY

June Meeting

Monday June 5th, 6:30 p.m. at the Hernando County Cooperative Extension Office which is located at 19490 Oliver Street in Brooksville.  Our meetings are open to the public.

June Program

Florida Yards and Neighborhood Program by Lynda Powell Program Coordinator.

The Hernando County Extension Service is excited to introduce to Hernando residents this new program that can help you transform your yard into a beautiful oasis that will not only conserve precious water resources and reduce pollution, but will also help you save time, energy and money.  The objectives of the new program are to:

v     Reduce storm water runoff

v     Decrease non-point source pollution

v     Conserve water

v     Enhance wildlife habitat

v     Create beautiful landscapes

HERNANDO AUDUBON SOCIETY

  Audubon meetings and field trips will resume in September.

 

CHINSEGUT NATURE CENTER

Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, 23212 Lake Lindsey Road (Route 476), Brooksville Fl

June  6    7:00 p.m.            Alligator Management by the Alligator Management Section.

June  13  9:00 a.m.       Animal Tracks by Jeff McGrady.  Meet at the Big Pine Tract.

Hernando County Butterfly Counts

The North American Butterfly Association's local chapter will be conducting butterfly counts in Hernando County in June.  Volunteers are needed.  If you would like to participate please contact Clay or Don at the numbers below.

  West Hernando - Saturday June 10th at 9:00 am.  Contact Clay Black at (352) 592-4949.  Clay's group will be meeting at the south gate of the Weeki Wachee Preserve at 7:00 a.m..

  East Hernando - Saturday June 17th at 10:00 am.  Contact Don Stillwaugh at (727) 726-7408.
